Playing Back Television Shows with HCWTVWND.DLL
Developed by Hauppauge Computer Works for its WinTV drivers, hcwtvwnd.dll is an essential component for watching, recording and playing back television shows on the computer system. Initially developed for WinTV 2000, hcwtvwnd.dll has been released in updated versions with every WinTV advanced releases. WinTV 2000 allows you to work on other applications while simultaneously watching TV in a window from the 125-channel cable ready TV tuner. WinTV also displays video from a VCR, camcorder and other video sources.
WINTV for Nt 4.0 was the first release instance of hcwtvwnd.dll. Some virus and malware applications may detect hcwtvwnd.dll as malicious content, and if you have any version of WinTV installed, you need not worry about it.

The errors indicate a mixed up matching in the driver files. The latest WinTV driver and application for NT must be installed. If you have Windows XP, you will need to view and follow the instructions provided in www.hauppauge.com.

Most likely caused by a missing or corrupted dll file, it is also possible that the driver files are not unpacked in the computer system. Double click on HCWTVWND to unpack the driver. Choose a folder or location (best is system32). Go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, Sound Video and Game Controllers.
Here, you should see the yellow exclamation icon if the card is installed. Right/double click on it and select driver tab. Click update driver and select install from the list. Next search for the best driver and check browse back to where you unpacked the driver. Then follow the instructions to install drivers as required.
