Tuning the Television with hcwtvnd.dll
The hcwtvnd.dll was created by the Hauppauge Computer Works of Hauppauge, NY. The company is the manufacturer of video cards, motherboards and other key computer components; with offices in the US, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Sweden, UK, Spain, Italy, Singapore and Poland.
WinTV2000 is a tuner that installs on your computer and allows you to watch television on the PC. This program also comes with a video card for connecting an antenna or cable wire directly in. In addition, the company also has WinRadio which picks up FM radio waves, WinTv Scheduler which is similar to today’s DVR.
The hcwtvnd.dll is a key installation register that installs with the driver for the WinTV2000 and the WinTV32. Due to the age of this program, you will have to search long and hard to find this dll if your computer goes awry.
The prominent error message involving this .dll states:
“This application has failed to start because HCWTVWND.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”
Sometimes followed by:
“GLJE9.tmp unable to locate component”
The solution involves double clicking on HCWTVWND to Unpack drivers. Choose the Windows/system32 folder, then go to start/control Panel/system/hardware/ device manager/sound video and game controllers at this point you should see the yellow! If card installed right/double click on it select driver tab. From there click update driver select install from list.
Their website hauppauge has more information on this topic and you can contact one of their support staff for downloading this dll if yours goes missing or it will not unpack.
If you still have your driver disk, you can re-install the program. The only problem is that due to being an obsolete program, this would be on a hard disk, and today’s computers rarely have this device installed.
